Saxophone Quartet (2014, rev. 2020)

Composed June 2014, rev. 2020

in three movements

20 Minutes

This saxophone quartet in three movements was composed in the summer of 2014 when the composer was 18 years old. The first movement is an introduction and allegro, with the fast section containing elaborate interplay for the entire ensemble. The second movement is a multi section reflection, with the main baritone saxophone theme being inspired by an improvisation the composer heard in a practice room when he was at band camp that same summer. The last movement, Final, serves as a triumphant conclusion and features the entire ensemble at its most virtuosic.
